Saint Edwards College, Gosford
This project saw the creation of a new multi-storey / multipurpose building within an existing school facility. The new building uniquely combines theatre space, teaching facilities, new library and staff facilities – to utilise the topographical characteristics and adjust to the limited space available on-site.
Important features of this four storey building include separates access for student and teacher-only areas and a two storey theatre space.
The building integrates vastly different uses, and separates the different operational / functional needs of those uses. This challenged the structural composition of the building – because of the inconsistent / varying spatial requirements of each use.
Northrop engaged with the PMDL Architects and the School to discuss and agree the opportunities for interfacing the new building with existing – i.e. new courtyard and access areas.
